Founded in 1910 by August Merten, the manufactory with its characteristic logo made of two stylized oak leaves and the initial of the company founder is still the symbol for first-class cutlery today. Its worldwide reputation is also based on the high-quality craftsmanship of Eichenlaub cutlery, which is elaborately handcrafted from forged steel, finely worked, ground and finally polished or matted again by hand. Special effort is also put into the processing of the forks - through careful processing and rounding of the tips, these are just so pointed that a piece of meat can easily be skewered.

With its tradition of craftsmanship, the Eichenlaub manufactory is an example of the many other member manufactories of the Initiative that feel connected to the quality benchmark "Handmade in Germany". With the inclusion of the cutlery manufacturer Eichenlaub, the Initiative Deutsche Manufakturen reflects more than ever the unique diversity of the German manufacturing industry.
